Products Used for the Holiday Makeup Tutorial:
Step 1: Apply Foundation
Apply foundation on your face, go sheer or go full coverage however you prefer as long as it matches your body color. I know foundation could be a hard trick for oily skin, luckily there’s a list of the best foundation for oily skin on this blog site. When you know which foundation to put on, take note that the neck will always be a different color than your body, so my best advice is to match the decolletage unless you’re wearing a closed-neck attire. For this tutorial, Nikkie used MUFE Ultra HD and Kat Von D Lock It Foundation together.
Step 2: Apply Concealer to Dark Areas
Sometimes it’s not necessary to apply concealer, but if you need to, don’t forget to set the concealer with a setting powder immediately after to avoid creasing. This tutorial used It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer in the shade “light”.
Step 3: Set With Powder
Once you’re happy with your base, set it with a setting powder to lock the product in place. This is also going to help with the application of the powder products you’re going to apply next.
Step 4: Fill in Brows
Definitely fill your brows with color that matches your hair color. The rule is if you have light hair go 2 shades darker, but if you have dark hair go 2 shades lighter.
Step 5: Prime Lids
Prime the lids with eye primer or in this case MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre to help with lasting eye color and saturation.
Step 6: Contour Your Eyes
This tutorial shows us Nikkie using Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow in shade Orange Soda to create a transition and contour the eyes for a more deep and dramatic look. You can use a sheet of paper to make sure you have a perfect winged line at the outer corner of your lid. You also want to make sure that you apply it only to the crease.
Start with the lighter shade and work up to the darker eyeshadow color.
Step 7: Apply Gold Eyeshadow
Using a brush pick up a gold eyeshadow and deposit it right on the lid area. Nikkie used Makeup Geek’s Foiled Eyeshadow in “Untamed” to create this holiday makeup tutorial look.
Step 8: Glitter
Apply glitter right where the gold eyeshadow is to create texture and to highlight the lid more. In this tutorial, a glitter eyeliner is used. However, if you have cosmetic loose glitter in your kit, that should be good as well.
This is Urban Decay’s Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy which was used for this holiday makeup tutorial.
Step 9: Lower Lashline Love
Don’t forget to give your lower lash line some love and apply the same darker eyeshadow to create depth and to add more detail as shown in this holiday makeup tutorial.
Step 10: False Lashes
Apply false lashes for a bolder more wide-eyed look. This will truly turn your makeup look into glamorous.
Step 11: Contour
The next step is to contour your face, take note that the purpose of contouring is to create a more pronounced feature by creating shadows on your face. You can do this to narrow down you facial perimeter or to create a narrower looking nose. This holiday makeup tutorial used NYX blush in Taupe which is the perfect cool brown color the create illusions of shadow.
Step 12: Highlight
Using Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm Cosmetics, create highlights on the higher planes of the face to help create a more chiseled look.
Step 13: Blush On
Apply blushers between the contour and highlight and kind of blend it all together for a subtle glow to your glam makeup look.
Step 14: Red Lips
For this look, you can also opt for nude. However, this holiday makeup tutorial used “Unicorn Blood” by Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick topped with another shade called “Anna Nicole” to create a brighter lip color. It might sound daunting to be wearing metallic eyeshadow and bold red lips, but as long as you keep the lips matte it should work out well.
Here now, is the finished look!
Don’t you think the metallic gold eye look and bright red lips pair really well?
